Empty Nester

Yesterday morning I had a list of things I wanted to get done. But things were kind of thrown for a loop when my mind started to focus elsewhere.

I got a call from my sister telling me my Mom was admitted to the hospital.
At the time of the phone call, all I knew was that she had a sore on her hairline looked at the other day, then woke up to look kind of like this...

(her swelling was on the right side of her face and she couldn't see out of her eye...don't worry, she knows we called her Quasimodo)

They didn't know why she started swelling and it took ALL day to get the results that everything is fine and she will get to come home soon, but until the results of the CT was read it was pretty stressful NOT knowing what was going on with your Mom!

After dinner I loaded the kids up in the car and headed in to town to visit my Mom (Troy had mutual so he didn't go).
When I arrived at the hospital my Aunt Carla (Mom's sister) was there and shortly after my Aunt Carolyn (also sister) & her hubby showed up.

Recently, my Aunt Carla's last son just went away to school and she was saying how hard of time she was having adjusting to no kids at home. You could tell it upset her just mentioning her kids were gone.

Parker chilled for a few minutes in his carseat then he had enough and Papa was nice enough to get him out and hold him while I was sitting in the rocker with a semi-freaked out Taylor on my lap. Carolyn decided she wanted to hold Parker, and basically he didn't want that....at all!

He started screaming (which isn't like him because he is a very easy baby!) My Dad tried taking him back, but the tears wouldn't stop. I put Taylor on the floor to save little Parker, but then Taylor started screaming because she wanted me to be sitting in the chair holding her. So I tried to sit in the chair, hold both of my screaming kids but neither one of them would calm down.

That was my cue to leave.

As I was buckling Parker back into his seat (both kids still screaming) I hear my Aunt over the screams...

"I'm an empty nester!" and she had the BIGGEST grin on her face!

I shouted over the crying, that I could help her solve her sadness of no kids!

As I was walking out the door, she told me I can bring the kids over to visit anytime to help with the no kids-syndrome.

I thought to myself "She would be cured in two days....if not sooner."

I hope your mom is feeling better. I'm glad it's nothing serious. That story about your kids and your aunt is funny.

I hope your mom's face is back to normal soon! Don't you love how we just always want what we don't have. Your kids leave and you want them back. You have your kids all day and you want them to leave! :)
I'm glad Parker is getting big enough to defend himself ;) You better warn Taylor that these little brothers grow up pretty fast and they come back to get you. Garen can totally wail on Maddie now. He tackles her down to the ground and takes her things away. He's getting back at her for all those days when she pushed him, took his toys, poked him in the eye, etc. :) Good Luck with everything.
And you should really come and visit sometime before winter!!! I would love the company!

WELL, I'M GLAD TO HEAR THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS HAD TO SURVIVE A WICKED TANTRUM THIS WEEK!! Geez, and I only had one kid and barely made it--forget about how I'll do it with two! GREAT JOB ALISHA!!

I hope your Mom is back to normal in no time!

and let me just say that PARKER IS SUCH A HANDSOME BABY!! I'm sure he's breaking hearts already!! The pictures of him are adorable, and I could look at him all day!!

This is so weird to hear this about your mom. I just saw her at church on Sunday and she was just fine. Things happen so fast...and in her case so hard! I'm so sorry to hear about all this. I will be praying for her!
