Working in the field

Thursday Taylor had her first beet hoeing experience. She slept through most of it, but she was out in the field with her little Nike baseball hat. We went out and helped with the church farm and at first Taylor and I had two rows and Troy had his own two rows, but shortly after starting Troy was nice and just had me follow behind him while he took over all four of our rows. The beet tops went to my knees and were so thick, it was hard to walk by myself let alone carry Taylor on my back! Troy would do the big weeds and would leave smaller weeds and potatoes for Taylor and I to get. The rows were half mile rows and it was sooo hot! Not to mention at the end of the field the weeds were so thick (and as tall as me!) that most of the women left those for the men. Troy was smart and brought his shovel instead of a hoe so he got alot more done than anyone else. Plus people that did use their hoes went home with them broken. It was a good experience working out there with Taylor but I think next year I will find a babysitter!
