"Polishing A Turd"

First off, this is not a "new" topic around my house. Last night I told Troy that I was thinking about starting the process of painting our kitchen. He kind of just rolled his eyes and said "No comment." Basically since we have bought our home we have SLOWLY made a process of fixing up one room at a time. The only rooms upstairs that needs work is the office and our kitchen. Everything in the kitchen works, but is in a desperate need of a face lift. Troy doesn't want to do ANYTHING to it until we pretty much gut it and start from scratch. Which in his mind won't be done for 5-7 years. He says "You can't polish a turd and make it shine." Now, we all know (and he admits it too!) that Troy is cheap (hahaha) and it doesn't bother him not to have anything hanging on the walls and such. This coming from a guy that had NOTHING on his walls except a dart board when we got married! I just can't get myself to hang anything up with the wine and spaghetti wall paper, that is currently occupying some wall space, next to our metal cupboards that won't let you stand a box of cereal upright! Not to mention the wonderful orange and yellow linoleum floor with matching orange vinyl chairs (that came with the house). There is also the wonderful cracks and nail heads everywhere. And basically I am very tired of looking at all of it! I think if you put some color on the walls along with some matching art work it will take some focus off the floor. :) It will also start to feel like we are living here! Almost three years have past since we bought our home and our living room is pretty much still bare, we do have a beautiful entertainment center though...thanks babe!(anything wooden I want, he says he will build it...still waiting for my table TROY!) and he complains if I spend money on any decorations. Don't even get me started on our landscaping!! Well, I don't know the point of this blog, I think I just wanted to get a little steam out that he thinks I am crazy for wanting to make it look a little better until we remodel to make it exactly like we want.

I still have my dart board, much to Deidra's chagrin. So I know how Troy feels. But good luck with the kitchen!

Well I think it is only fair that every penny he spends on paintball you get equal or more to spend on decorations for the kitchen.
And as for the yard, I think Troy is hoping that if it takes him long enough the ward will use it as a service project :)

Paint's fairly cheap. I say go for it. We have ghetto dark wood cabinet that the laminate is peeling off, and we can't stand cereal boxes upright, or on their sides. It's just a rental though...
