Home Sweet Home

Our little family has had a very busy 4 days. It started Thursday morning with a funeral. My cousin on my Dad's side was killed in a farming accident. Troy and I dropped Taylor off to play with Mason (Maren too!) and headed to Oakley. My cousin was 14 years older than me so I was not too close to him. Our families use to get together every Christmas until we got too big so our families went in different directions with just the siblings. Anyway, when I heard the news about him I was shocked and sad but I never cried over it until I heard the reaction of his Mom (my Dad had to break the news to her). No parent should have to bury their child. It was also very hard when I found out my uncle was the one that found him and so we have no idea how the accident happened or if he was in any pain for too long. We will never know. I had a really hard time at the funeral from the beginning. I was in straight view of my Aunt and Uncle when they were closing the casket and saying their good byes. Then the opening song was sung by my Dad and Jim Hartwell (Chris, our Dad's are amazing!) I was a big mess!

After the funeral Troy and I picked up Taylor, loaded the Honda and headed to Boise to watch the Burley Girls Basketball team at State. I figured since Taylor could sleep the whole way to Boise we would just take her to the game that night. She did pretty well considering she didn't sleep the whole time. The game was too close for comfort, but they pulled it off...by one. I was tired by the time we got back to the hotel, it had been a long exhausting day! At least Taylor kept up her sleeping through the night! So I slept well.

Friday was full of shopping! Old Navy then the Mall. Troy met us for lunch at the Mall then some good ol' Troy style shoe shopping...lots of "I hate this place" and "Can we never come here again" and "Have I ever told you that I hate people" :0)
But we survived even though we never found him any shoes. We went to D.I. then I dropped Taylor and Troy off at the hotel so Taylor can take a good nap before the game. I went to Target and Ross by myself (found Troy some shoes too!) then we went to dinner. My aunt that lives in Boise had dinner plans that night so we took Taylor with us to the game. It was at 8:00 and I thought she would be a royal pain, but that nap really helped her! She was pretty dang good! She fell asleep within minutes of getting in the car and she was out! I carried her into the hotel, changed her diaper, put her into pajamas and put her in bed and she never even opened her eyes! Once again, not a peep from her until morning!

Saturday we hit the outlet mall (Usual comments from Troy included). After lunch we went back to the hotel to take a swim with Taylor (she wasn't too fond of the 5 boys that liked to splash and throw footballs our way). My parents decided to come up for the last game (Championship!) so I left Taylor with Troy in the hotel to see if she will take a good nap (which she didn't) while my mom and I ran over to Macy's. We decided we didn't have time to go to Macy's and eat before the game so we were to eat dinner afterwards. Taylor was a pretty big pain during the game from the get go and it didn't get better. (But she was dressed cute as a little Bobcat Fan. You can't see her shirt in the picture, but it has a bobcat paw print.)

At dinner she cried every time the waiter would come talk to us and cried just because she wanted to. At least by the time we got back to the hotel she went to sleep and slept well through the night. She was spent! We came home today and man am I glad to be back! I can't wait to get Taylor back on her afternoon naps, get caught up with all my bows/outfits, be able to put Taylor to bed at her usual 8:00 o'clock bedtime, and eat home cooked meals. But I still have load after load of laundry to do and hours of work downstairs but it's still good to be home!

Congrats Bobcats! As Troy says, "State Champions of the World!" :)

I like that the Wilkins family is slowing, but surely, being converted to bobcat fans.

Did Troy tell you about our adventures at boys' state basketball back in the day? Good times with our heads out the sunroof (freezing) down the freeway!

Haha It's funny that you mention that because I had a flash-back the other day and was telling someone about my socks that were chucked out the sunroof!

Yeah, our dads are pretty dang cool. I'm glad they have each other to keep each other out of trouble ... or to help each other get in to trouble, I'm not sure which. :)
